MISSION

The mission of the First Universalist Sesquicentennial is to strengthen the life and spirit of this religious community by illuminating the past, celebrating the present, and inspiring future generations.

TIMELINE

October, 2008 - December, 2009 (actual anniversary date is October 24, 2009)

VISION

The vision for the Sesquicentennial is to use the fifteen month sesquicentennial period to strengthen the congregation in preparation for a new settled minister.  The Sesquicentennial will achieve that by:

Encouraging a culture of abundance and generosity;

Making members aware of and proud of their history;

Honoring groups of members, including long term member and financial benefactors of the Sesquicentennial;

Reconnecting with past members and friends:

Publicizing ourselves to the Twin Cities community and potential members and friends;

Building bonds of connectedness between adults and intergenerationally by holding targeted audience and church wide celebrations;

Setting the stage for the Fund for the Future capital campaign which will launch the congregation into the next 150 years.

STEERING COMMITTEE
The Sesquicentennial Steering Committee has been working with group of dedicated volunteers to “Illuminate the Past, Celebrate the Present, and Inspire the Future” of First Universalist Church.  A series of articles about our history will appear in the Liberal and on this web site. Longer versions of these stories will be collected in a book to be published in the fall of 2009. Events throughout the coming year will inform us about our heritage and provide reasons to celebrate. A DVD is being produced that will capture the history and spirit of our congregation and document the Sesquicentennial celebrations.
