Bill Schulz, recently appointed interim director of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee and former president of Amnesty International, will present a workshop for members and friends of First Universalist on Saturday, April 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Social Hall. The workshop is titled "Could the Other Side Have a Point? Tackling Tough Issues of Public Ethics." We will tackle three tough issues: "Is it ever permissable to torture?" "Is there any excuse for sweatshop labor?" and "When is military intervention legitimate?" We'll see if we can better hone our thinking by understanding the thoughts of others.
To prepare for the discussion, 60-90 minutes of advanced reading is required:

Suggested cost is $10 to help defray expenses. Continental breakast (bagels, yogurt and juice) will be served at 9:00. The workshop begins at 9:30. Register at the Sesquicentennial table in the Social Hall after both services on March 28, April 4, and April 11. Space for the workshop is limited, so register early!
